Merchant Center is not a store marketplace

Google Merchant Center diagnostics show policy and product issues for the operator. They do not list stores for sale, issue an APA, or protect a handover. That is a different job.

Google Merchant Center is the native dashboard for Shopping ads and free listings. Needs attention, Diagnostics, and the request-review button are how an operator sees item-level disapprovals and account-level warnings or suspensions. That job does not disappear if you buy a store here.

What Merchant Center is for

Product data, destinations, and policy enforcement on your offers.
Warning emails and banners with 7 or 28 calendar days on most violations.
Requesting a review after you fix the website and the account.

What Merchant Center is not for

Finding a buyer or a seller for the business.
Negotiating price with a recorded admin-guided chat.
Issuing and storing an Asset Purchase Agreement.
Collecting payment only after both parties sign, then releasing the seller after confirmed handover.

Use both. Diligence a listing against what MC would show the current operator. Close the purchase on GMC Marketplace. Then open Merchant Center as the new owner and keep the published audit list true on the website you now control.

Questions

Should I ignore Merchant Center if I buy on GMC Marketplace?

No. After transfer you will live in Needs attention and Diagnostics. This page only says MC is not where you buy or sell the business, and it does not hold funds or a signed APA between two parties.

Can Google transfer a store to a buyer for me?

Google documents how to request reviews and fix policy issues. It does not operate a marketplace for selling the underlying Shopify or WooCommerce business, domain, and credentials.

Where do I see listing inventory then?

On GMC Marketplace — listings are public at /buy. Merchant Center will not list other people’s stores for sale.
