Why generic store-sale sites are not enough for a GMC store
Flippa-style marketplaces, brokers, and Facebook groups can list a store. They do not replace a GMC-aware handover with a signed APA and payment after both parties sign.
The adjacent tool class for GMC Marketplace is not a feed optimiser. It is the general business-for-sale market: Flippa-style listing sites, boutique brokers, and Facebook or Discord groups. Those channels can surface a store. They are not built around Merchant Center history, anonymous contract signing, or a payout that waits on buyer confirmation.
What the generic class is good at
- Reach: many categories of online business, not only GMC-aged ecommerce.
- Price discovery in a broad buyer pool.
- Sometimes a broker-led process — still usually a generic asset sale, not a Merchant Center handover playbook.
What they typically do not do (and we do)
- Show GMC-specific listing fields (age, feed countries, reinstated flag, Shopify Payments, ad metrics) that admin reviews before the listing is public.
- Keep negotiation on a recorded deal chat with an admin in the thread.
- Issue a per-deal Asset Purchase Agreement, signed in-platform as two anonymous counterparts, with payment blocked until both signatures exist.
- Hold settlement funds and pay the seller only after the buyer confirms store, domain, and advertising access moved.
This is not a claim that other marketplaces are fraudulent. It is a claim about fit: if the asset is a Merchant Center store, the deal needs GMC-aware diligence and a handover contract, not only a listing page.
Questions
Are you saying Flippa or a broker cannot sell a Shopify store?
No. They can list almost any digital business. The gap is specialisation and deal mechanics: GMC-aware listing fields, admin-guided transfer of Merchant Center or Meta access, an APA both parties sign before payment, and seller payout only after the buyer confirms handover.
Can I just buy in a Facebook group if the price is lower?
You can, and you take the off-platform risk the FAQ already describes: money moving without a structured handover or a binding contract held by a records custodian. GMC Marketplace exists so that path is not the default.
Do you run 15 “vs [brand]” pages?
No. One guide (this page) and one compare hub page cover store-sale marketplaces as a class. We do not ship near-duplicate URLs for every broker.
