Pricing your store to sell on GMC Marketplace

What it costs to list and sell on GMC Marketplace, the price floors and listing caps, and how to set an asking price against real completed comps instead of other people’s asking prices.

Sellers usually arrive with a number already in mind, derived from what other people are asking. That is the wrong reference class. Asking prices are what sellers hope for; completed sales are what buyers paid.

The rules you are pricing inside

  • Listing is free — no listing fee and no monthly fee.
  • Store listings have a 1,500 minimum in the listing currency, with no currency conversion applied.
  • App and ecommerce tool listings have a $1,000 minimum on the sell form.
  • At most 3 active store listings under $3,000 per seller.
  • Commission on a completed sale: $500 minimum or 15% of the sale price — whichever is higher, paid by the seller.
  • Boosted listings: 20% (or a $600 floor on boosted listings under $3,000), charged only on sale.
  • Referrals: 20% of the platform commission, not of the sale price.

Set the price from comps, not from hope

Find the completed deals closest to your store on niche, country, platform, Merchant Center age and profit band. Read the sale prices and the percentage of ask those sellers achieved. If comparable stores consistently closed below their asking price, the market is telling you where your number should start.

Then check the shape of your own listing. Buyers here calculate payback from asking price against monthly profit, and that figure is only displayed when it lands in a sensible range. A price that produces an absurd payback period is a price that will be questioned in the first message.

What makes a listing move

Complete fields and consistent figures. Give the same reporting window for revenue, spend and profit, keep the asking price and the metrics in one currency, and disclose a past suspension and reinstatement rather than letting a buyer discover it. Verified identity matters too: unverified sellers are publicly labelled, and buyers skip them.

Do not inflate the numbers to justify the price. Figures that contradict each other are flagged for admin review before the listing goes live, and a buyer who catches an inconsistency in the chat is gone.

After a buyer says yes

The order is fixed: terms agreed, both parties sign the Asset Purchase Agreement, payment is collected, you hand over the assets with admin guidance, the buyer confirms, then you are paid less commission. You cannot be asked to transfer assets before the funds are in, and the buyer cannot be asked to pay before the agreement is signed.

Questions

What does it cost to list?

Nothing. There is no listing fee and no monthly fee. Commission is charged only when the store actually sells, and only to the seller — buyers pay no commission.

What is the commission?

$500 minimum or 15% of the sale price — whichever is higher, deducted from the seller payout. Boosting a listing for premium placement raises the total commission to 20% (or a $600 floor on boosted listings under $3,000), again charged only if the listing sells. Payouts to non-USA bank accounts also carry a $25 international wire fee from the banking provider.

Why can I only have three cheap listings?

A seller may hold at most 3 active store listings priced under $3,000 at any time. It is a quality cap, not a fee — without it, low-value listings crowd out serious ones. Listings at or above that price are not capped, and a slot frees up when one sells or is removed.

Should I price high and negotiate down?

Look at the comps before you decide. Published completed deals show what percentage of asking price sellers actually achieved, and the rows that landed near their number are usually the ones that were priced close to it in the first place. An inflated price mostly buys you time on market.
